The Feeding of the Multitude (1628) is a oil on canvas painting by Abraham Bloemaert (1566–1651), created in 1628. Measuring 84 × 66 cm, it depicts the biblical scene from John 6:1-15. This painting is housed at Art inspired by Stories in the Bible.
With only five loafs of bread and two fish Jesus manages to feed the crowd of 5,000 people. There is plenty for everyone. Bloemaert's style had certainly evolved since his previous depiction of the subject in 1593. In this painting the colors are brighter and the composition is more tranquil. Also, Jesus' action is better visible.
