Diego Velázquez, a master painter of the Spanish Golden Age, was born in Seville, Spain, on June 6, 1599. He was the first child of Juan Rodríguez de Silva, a notary, and Jerónima Velázquez. From a young age, Velázquez showed an exceptional talent for art and was apprenticed to Francisco Pacheco, a renowned artist and teacher in Seville. Under Pacheco's guidance, Velázquez developed his skills in proportion, perspective, and classical studies, which would later become the foundation of his unique artistic style.
