Tired of Laban's broken promises, Jacob decides to leave his uncle's land. Here he informs his wives Rachel and Leah and convinces them to join him. They immediately agree, as Laban had mistreated them as well. Also, God had instructed Jacob to return to the land of his fathers.


Pieter Potter was a Dutch painter, father of the better known Paulus. He depicted the episode in a pastoral landscape.
