John the Baptist in the Wilderness is an oil painting on oak panel executed c. 1480–1490 by the early Netherlandish painter Geertgen tot Sint Jans. It is now in the collection of the Gemäldegalerie, Berlin.
Geertgen tot Sint Jans (Gerald unto St John), who by then lived in Haarlem, had a close connection to the local Knights of Saint John, as his adopted name suggests. The painting here described was probably commissioned by the society or one of its members.
